Butchering On Farm

We are seeking motivated individuals who have a desire to participate in and learn from all aspects of animal husbandry, and small farm business planning and execution.
Farm apprentices are involved in all farm activities, including animal management (poultry, sheep, cows, pigs, rabbits), butchering, fencing, pasture management, operating the gristmill, gardening, running a farmers market stand, agri-tourism and vacation cottages. They work with us in the field and on the farm, five full days a week. Our apprenticeship will give you first-hand knowledge of what it takes to run your own farm. The apprenticeship period begins as early as March and goes until mid-November.
Housing is a barn loft apartment with curtained off bedrooms and a shared kitchen and living space with one other apprentice. There is an outhouse and an outdoor shower for apprentices to use.
The farm is located in Marshall, NC, 35 minutes outside of Asheville where the majority of the farm products are brought and sold.
