Hippo Hollow Farms is a family owned and run farm, situated in Middle TN. Joe, Adele and their 4 kids moved to the US in 2012 from their home country- South Africa!
Joe grew up on a cattle/dairy and corn farm. After he finished his degree in Agriculture, his family bought a Avocado, Macadamia Nut, Banana and Ginger farm. He farmed those commodities for 12 years before relocating to the US.
In 2013 we started our operation in the US.
We use regenerative sustainable farming techniques raising grass fed grass finished cattle, pasture raised chickens ( eggs and meat birds), turkeys and forest raised pork.
During April 2016- we hosted a 10 day on farm course with Darren J. Doherty of the Regrarians using the Regrarians platform. Our farm was used as the model farm for the course and the outcomes of this course is being implemented on our farm over the next few years. We are excited to heal our land with everything we do!
We love to transfer knowledge and believe it is a neccesity to help share knowlegde with future farmers. We enjoy making new lifetime friends who becomes part of our family and who we can support in the future as they go their own way prusuing their dreams. We are open to creating business partnerships with Hippo Hollow Farms graduated apprentices in an effort to create a safe place for young farmers to start farming under the guidance of Hippo Hollow Farms. Even if you do not have land yet, and have this desire to live off the land, do not be discouraged! If you are willing to work and learn as an intern and apprentice with us and would like to farm, there is future partnership opportunities here at Hippo Hollow Farms and we would LOVE to help you.
