Job Type Farm Manager: Manages a farm for future generations or manages the people on a farm.
Type of farm? Diverse (Animals/Plants)
Description A south-facing, gently sloping, scenic, ten acre pasture ++ is a "polyculture farm-in-waiting” (In Oregon’s Tualatin River Valley, 20 miles SW of Good-Food-Obsessed “Portlandia," on excellent roads) seeks YOU (singular or plural) for potential partnership with the old folk-city-type resident landowners. If you are an entrepreneurial, hard working, fun and happy-self starter, who plays well with others, you will thrive here if you want to. We want to help you so much, it will hurt sometimes (and we can take “butt out, please” for an answer;). Pretty much everything you need for a successful farm is currently on hand … in need of maintenance and, ahem, a little love, actually: barn, moveable run-in sheds, huge compost pile, good perimeter fencing, tractor, RTV, pick up truck, portable fencing galore, water toughs, “bone yard” of building materials, work shop, tools, etc... you get the idea. There is a permaculture master design plan in progress. Hedgerows, olives, figs, berries and pond getting nicely established. This “farmette” was carved out of former conventional dairy pasture and is waiting for your good stewardship and productivity. We have detailed soil reports. You can bring a tiny home or trailer, set up a yurt, fix up the old Airstream currently onsite, or something like that as long as you can make it pretty. We live here with our 2 pet horses and dogs and you can farm away, Polyface style, and house-sit so we can travel and brag about you (and help you succeed locally, for sure) and everyone will live happily ever after* (*details to be determined at MOU signing, your results may vary, be sure to consult family, friends, God, goddesses and a paralegal friend of friend before pursuing this opportunity). We can't pay you cash money but we offer all the tools, land and human resource type connections you may need. We can micro-loan and we will be good at helping you sell, actually. We are your farm cheerleaders and networkers, not your farming knowledge mentors but we can set you up with those folks, too if needed.
