Type of farm?
You would be expected to care for the existing laying hens/pullets (300 to 450), start meat chicks and butcher those on site (we have the butchering supplies), and increase the laying hen flock. There is substantial infrastructure already in place, with room to grow and improve.
We are looking for an experienced pastured poultry manager that will take our established pastured poultry business farther including increasing our laying flock and reinstating meat chickens to our ranch.
James Ranch in the Animas Valley River drainage just north of Durango, CO, LaPlata County.
We would love to hear from you by email first including your resume with references, then we will follow up with a phone call. If we are both feeling confident the process should continue, we could have another phone interview and if still confident, we would want you to come visit us on the ranch.
Hourly as well as commission
Would you like to live in the stunning southwest Colorado, and join a highly motivated family team of regenerative agriculturists?
We have a small pastured layer business (300 hens), and would like to increase the business to meat chicken and increase the layer numbers, but with someone else at the helm.
We are looking for someone that loves “the chicken”, wants to raise meat and layers on grass, and sell directly to the customer through our on-site market. We already have a healthy customer base, an on-site market, as well as a thriving on-site restaurant! Please go to our website to learn more about the dynamic James Ranch in Durango, CO.
The pieces are available, we just need an educated pastured poultry manager to take the business further.
On site housing is also a possibility.
