Butchering On Farm
We are a small, 100% grass-fed dairy, that has included several other operations as well (layers, broilers, pigs, vegetables, fruit, etc.) for the past 10 years. We began in Powder Springs, Georgia as father and son, with our families. A year and a half ago, we expanded into 62 acres of Alabama farm land, where David and Tina, and their children, now live and work. Both farms are growing wonderfully, with the potential to grow in all four of our major enterprises: dairy, eggs, broilers, and pigs. We're looking for a single guy, preferably, who would be willing to come and live in Alabama, to begin as an intern learning the trade in exchange for room, board, and some minimal pay. After this learning period of three to five months, if we're all agreeable, there is the potential for a full-time position. This would include a base salary as well as incentivized options beyond the base.
The position will begin with learning what we do, rooted in the daily chores of animal care. You will also help with general projects on both farms, we'll teach you how we process broilers and old stewing hens, immerse you in all-around Jersey cow management and more. As you gain mastery there, we can expand into the future projects around the farm which include a continuing renovation to our dairy barn, a possible large-scale composting operation, water-management/lake building & expansions, forestry management & expansion for the pig operation and a long list of other potential dreams!
To apply for the position, please send us a short video letting us know 4 things: who you are, what you’ve been doing, what you’re doing now, and how you think you could help us in our farming operation.
