Two noncontiguous pieces of land along beautiful Back Creek in Highland County, Virginia. One farm is 28 acres and contains a barn, sugar house and rental cabin as well as hayfields and maple trees. There is existing electrical, septic and water (well) at this site. The second (less than 1/2 mile away) is 33 acres and has a 4-bedroom house plus storage sheds and a small orchard. There is electrical, septic and water (spring) at this location. Fencing is currently minimal.

➢ Knowledge of basic farm machinery and procedures required. Knowledge of maple sugar-making preferred.

The current owners have extensive knowledge of maple syrup production, as well as numerous contacts to help with marketing, packaging, sales, etc.
Additionally, we will share our hospitality skills learned through years of operating a successful cabin.
The successful applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to transition from worker to manager to owner in all aspects of business operations. The candidates will most likely be a couple, as the business involves many tasks which are best accomplished with two people working together/ or with complimentary skill sets.

We are looking to transfer a farm and growing agribusiness to the next generation. Back Creek Farms makes maple syrup and specializes in value-added products with our bourbon and brandy barrel-aged syrups. We also make maple syrup infusions, and hickory syrup, too! . We have been actively marketing our new products to make this a viable business opportunity for a family to earn a living in Highland County. There is also have a highly successful rental cabin. The land associated with this offer is currently underutilized. The successful applicant(s) will complete an apprenticeship and we will create a transfer plan for sale of the acreage, business and house suitable to the needs of the applicants and the owners.
