Category A Farm/Business Posting A Job
Job Type Farm Manager: Manages a farm for future generations or manages the people on a farm.
Type of farm? Diverse (Animals/Plants)
Housing provided We’d aim to do this because it's important, but we would all need to be creative in providing you with accommodation initially!
Qualifications Required This is a partnership position. So if you have relevant qualifications that's great, but your personality, commitment, experience and ambition are crucial. A passion for organic farming / horticulture / woodland management with ideas, skills and practical competence to make things happen. Enterprising and enthusiastic, you must have core libertarian (definitely non socialist) environmental and entrepreneurial leanings. You’d have no problem with the concept of making money and see potential rather than conflict from combining a profitable successful business with meaningful work and having a positive social / environmental impact. You'd prefer the scope, responsibility and potential rewards of being a partner rather than an employee and be able to cope with the initial downside of no regular income. Willing to take the initiative, and to work as a trustworthy collaborative team player, with the physical and emotional fitness, stamina and commitment to see things through. This is a unique opportunity suitable only for the determined, innovative, positive and courageous with a 'can do' attitude!
Positions Available 1
Goals/Vision for Farm To build a profit focused venture that would have making a positive social / environmental impact as an important part of its aims - securing the sustainable long term future this special farm deserves, and providing meaningful, inspiring rewards for everyone involved.
Salary offered/Rental Fee As a partner your rewards would very much reflect your input
Land Description 150 acre historic hill farm in the Brecon Beacons National Park (Wales, UK) bordering the open mountain side, with pasture and woodland around two rivers. Currently functioning as a traditional sheep farm. Rather run down but with plenty of untapped potential.
Application Process If this sounds like you and the possibility appeals find out more and get in touch at: www.alcemi.org/partnership-position We’d arrange an initial phone / Skype conversation and take it from there. Interest from someone in the U.S. (you may even have some Welsh ancestry) or elsewhere welcome.
Description This is a partnership opportunity. You’d be a key player in planning and developing a profitable farm enterprise, and responsible for organising and carrying out the practical hands on agricultural / horticultural / woodland work on the farm. This would appeal to someone who would relish the real challenge of building something worthwhile and rewarding from scratch. No guarantees but no limits on what you could achieve. We’d be initially focusing on developing niche produce / products (less bureaucratic interference) to sell online and/or offline to suitable markets in the UK and possibly abroad. Start date negotiable.
